  1. I am an expert in religion. So when i read this book, I was surprised to learn that people worship things besides God. Who would think that a obese man is worshipped in other parts of the world. Or cows? Reading that chapter gave me quite a hankering for a cheeseburger. I thought to myself, well, if you expect me to believe this, I have a Brooklyn Bridge to sell you. Do you expect me to believe people in Antarctica worship snow next?

  2. I can’t recommend this overview. I’ve read several books like it and this one was poorly written. It’s a hollow read, no offense.

  3. Thank you, Mr. Toropov, for such a clear, concise overview of the major (and minor) religions in the world today.

  4. I pretty much agree with the first review. When you read an Idiot’s Guide you expect something clear and understandable to an average reader. The blocks and sidebars look good but the language is that of theological scholars. I expected something better. At that, it was sufficiently clear to me that the Middle East (Islamic states) will not support democracy as we know it. “W” and his buddies should have read it a few years ago!

  5. I am not a baha’i but I have read on this religion much, and know that babism is not a sect of Islam. I don’t know that much about eastern religions, but I bet they’ve made mistakes on those to. And what would a priest and a village Idiot know about other religions any way.
